A Happy Gut Equals A Happy Brain

Did you know that 90% of all serotonin is produced in the gut? So if you have increased intestinal permeability, an inflamed gut, and/or gut dysbiosis, then being truly “happy” may be more difficult.

If you look up symptoms of low serotonin levels you will see that it can cause many issues from anxiety to depression, to OCD and insomnia and so much more.

Have you ever noticed when you’re experiencing bloating, stomach pain, and other digestive issues that your mood is also impacted? You may feel down, hopeless, tired, anxious, unmotivated, etc… You may experience these symptoms even if you don’t necessarily have digestive issues if your gut health isn’t optimal.

So how does one tackle this? The first step is to figure out exactly what’s going on in your gut.

Is it H. pylori, SIBO, parasites, bacterial overgrowth, candida overgrowth, leaky gut, or a combination of these? There are two functional labs I recommend that are best at uncovering what’s going on in the gut. A comprehensive stool test and organic acids test.

Once we have a good idea as to what your root cause is we can begin to address those using natural-based methods.

Of course, I always recommend eating a whole food-based diet, incorporating daily habits to manage stress, daily movement, etc… to manage your overall inflammation BUT if you do have an underlying issue(s) then you must also simultaneously address those or your relief will always be temporary.

That’s why I’m a huge advocate for the “Test Don’t Guess” method. If you’re struggling and have questions feel free to contact me as I can order those functional labs to figure out your “ROOT CAUSE”.
